The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
This title came up sometime when Emma Watson was cast to play a role in its movie adaptation. So I thought the main character in this story is a girl as I also associated it with the anime Yamato Nadeshiko (translated the Wallflower) where the main character is a girl.
I decided to borrow this book from my friend because it is relatively short and I can find time to finish this without me forgetting to read it when I get busy.
Well anyway, while I was reading the book, I swear I was infinite :) Pretty much like The Catcher in the Rye (Chbosky’s inspiration in writing the novel), a boy narrates his life like he was talking to somebody. Actually, he writes a letter addressed to an anonymous friend.
Sex, and drugs can be pretty much “normal” on the Western High School but I can still pretty much relate to the main character, Charlie as he calls himself, so I really enjoyed reading the book. It’s just like someone’s confiding me a story and I really like to listen.
I would also like to read the books Bill has assigned Charlie, two of them I’ve already read: To Kill a Mockingbird and The Catcher in the Rye.
Flipping through the last page, I stopped reading. I did something else. As with any other good book, I halfheartedly decide if I’m gonna finish this. I want Charlie to write to me until he finishes high school or beyond that. I don’t want this to end.
